Missouri woman charged in child's death

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — A northwestern Missouri woman has been charged in the October death of her bedridden 4-year-old daughter.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/UxalxD) 21-year-old Alexandra Laureen Schurr was arrested Wednesday and charged with involuntary manslaughter. Schurr was being held in the Buchanan County jail on $50,000 bond.

Schurr's daughter, Amber Elizabeth Mosier, died Oct. 10 at their St. Joseph home. The little girl had cerebral palsy and relied on a feeding tube. An autopsy showed she died of an airway obstruction.

Investigators allege the mother failed to administer the girl's medicines for several days before she died. Authorities also say the girl was left unattended at one point for 20 hours.

Schurr did not have an attorney Wednesday. No phone number for her could be found.
