Delta to end Mid-Missouri service

Delta Air Lines will end its service at Columbia Regional Airport in February, rejecting a deal from the city for a $3 million minimum revenue guarantee to continue service.

At a press conference Tuesday, Columbia officials announced the deal offered to Delta and that it had been turned down by the airline.

“Delta declined to accept the offer and chose to exit the market,” said City Manager Mike Matthes.

Imagine that! When gov't. gets involved with private industry, they fall short in the thinking that it takes to make it work. Can't wait to here the story from the boys in Columbia.

Columbia's mayor got his (&* handed to him. He picked one business over a competitor and lost. Holpefully, our mayor and city council will see the picture. Doubt it.
