Vacating Chestnut Street delayed

The Jefferson City Council placed a proposal to vacate Chestnut Street to Lincoln University on the informal calendar after hearing concerns from several area residents. At the council meeting Monday, several spoke on the possible vacation of the street.

Under the current proposal, Chestnut would be closed between East Atchison and East Dunklin streets, with electronic gates put in to be monitored by cameras so emergency vehicles can get access to the road.
