KC man gets life for drugging, molesting girls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City man sentenced to 245 year in prison for drugging children with sleeping-pill laced ice cream so he could create porn says he wants to lead a “pro-pedophile” movement from prison.

During sentencing Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple told 63-year-old James Phillip Edwards that his “conduct is beyond comprehension.”

The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/XgOz7i ) reported that Edwards videotaped his assaults on 13 girls over a four-year period.

Edwards pleaded no contest in March 2011 to 21 counts related to producing and distributing child pornography.

Court records say Edwards’ plan to become a pro-pedophile activist came to light in an essay he wrote called, “The Pedophile Minority.” Prosecutors said in a sentencing document that Edwards decided to be the “standard-bearer for pedophiles” and to start while in prison.

I understand the 1st Amend...but if 63 yr old James Phillip Edwards get's to " lead a “pro-pedophile” movement from prison", I'm going to seriously question the rational for that. This guy want's to lead a group that supports/encourages pedophillic behavior? Isn't that like a murderer wanting to encourage people to support murderer's or rapist to support rapist? Seriously, it's time to make prison exactly what it was intened to be for these criminals. If they behave and can be rehabilitated then fine...do the time, get rehabed, dont offend anymore and move on with your life. If that's not thew case, then they need to expect that prison is not gonna be fun. No GED, no cable TV, no AC..it's prison where all you do is work hard making littles ones out of big ones!

Mr. Edwards my tax dollars are already being used to fund enough stuff. I certainly can't afford, nor do I want any of that money used to support your effort to lead a pro pedophile group. Besides it being disgusting, it is quite out of the question. You Mr. Edwards are the worst kind of criminal and by your actions and stated desires. You have also proven that you are not in the lease be remorseful about you crime, nor are you ever going to be rehabilitated. So therefore you need to stay lock away even after death takes you away from society. You sir and worse than any criminal I have ever read about, seen on TV or in the news.

Just for the record I think this is a very disturbed individual. My heart goes out to all of his victims and their families.

But to clarify about "prison" the inmates pay for their own cable when they go to purchase items from the canteen, so our tax dollars do not pay for any of that. Also, the AC or heat that you feel they don't deserve is the same air that the staff is being cooled or heated by to be able to do their jobs that they get paid to do. So the 3 hots and a cot and cable and all those "extras" that society thinks the inmates get, they don't. I can assure you.
