City food inspections conducted year-round

To help ensure that the food you eat at restaurants and other food establishments is safe, Jefferson City operates a year-round inspection program which cites food providers for violations and works with them to stay in compliance. In rare cases, it shuts down food services that don’t comply.

Jefferson City is in good hands with its restaurants and other food providers, said David Grellner, the city’s environmental health manager.

Along with this article is a list of food providers that were recently inspected and their critical and non-critical inspections. The News Tribune plans to print these monthly inspection reports in its newspaper and e-Edition.

David needs to get a thermometer and measure the holding temps of food internal temperatures at several of the local buffets. When food is held for hours at barey above room temperature, conditions are right for growing all sorts of nasties.

Of course, city, county, and state requirements are virtually non-existant in Central Missouri for food and restaurant safety, so there isn't a whole lot to comply with as compared to cities like St. Louis:

"The News Tribune plans to print these monthly inspection reports in its newspaper and e-Edition." -- Great news! Springfield has done this for years and even more regularly now. Knowledge is power, thanks NT.
