Pintos use trick play to top Centralia

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - Faced with adversity for one of the first times during its unbeaten season, California decided it was time to bust out a new move.

With the score tied at 21 late in the fourth quarter, California ran a halfback-option pass. It worked, setting up the game-winning score as California defeated Centralia 28-21 to win the Class 3 District 6 title.

After Centralia (9-2) tied the score at 21 with 3:28 left, the Pintos decided to go all in. On the first play of the drive, Dylan Albertson took a pitch, rolled to his right and connected with Anthony Price for a 23-yard gain. Price scored from 36 yards out on the next play to put California up 28-21 with 3:04 remaining.

That was all the Pintos (11-0) would need as they advance to take on Duchesne at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
