Many area activities planned to honor veterans

A week of events to honor veterans around Veterans Day has been scheduled, including the Blair Oaks High School Veterans Assembly at 9 am Friday.

The event will feature Lt. Col. John Jurgensmeyer, who just returned from the Missouri National Guard deployment to Egypt.

At 7 pm Friday, up to 250 Marines will gather to celebrate the 237th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.
