CAPE GIRARDEAU - The first day of this year's state tournament played out eerily similar to 2011 for the Fatima volleyball team. Now, the Lady Comets are hoping the second day will have a much different result.
Just like last year, the Lady Comets split with St. Pius X: Festus in pool play and then went on to capture a berth in the Class 2 state championship game. But Fatima's hoping for a different result today, as the Lady Comets fell to the Lancers last year.
"I'm excited that we're back, but I care more about them playing to their potential," Fatima coach Mark Bockstruck said. "I want to see that. ... I'm happy we get this shot, I'm proud we played good enough, but I know we can play better."
