Gas dips below $3 at some St. Louis-area stations
Thursday, November 1, 2012
ST. LOUIS (AP) — For the first time this year, gasoline prices have dipped below $3 per gallon at some stations in the St. Louis area.
The price for a gallon of regular unleaded was down to $2.99 at many locations on Wednesday. The average price of a gallon of gas in St. Louis was last below $3 in December. AAA Missouri says the average price in St. Louis isn’t there yet — the average on Wednesday was $3.05.
Mike Right of AAA told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/SffAlw ) that the price is dropping because of strong Midwestern supplies and lower demand.

Wonder why gas is so expensive in Jefferson City. $3.19 here! Even Columbia is selling the same stuff at the same brands at $3.07.
What is going on with Jefferson City's gas stations?
Paroquet 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Transportation surcharge; we're farther from the main artery. Differential for delivery costs has to be offset.

Not exactly true. Some stations in both places get their gas from the same location, between Ashland and Columbia. It's an extra 10 miles to Jefferson City from the terminal. However, Fulton gets their gas in the same place, and it's another 15 miles FURTHER to Fulton, but their gas is the same price as Columbia's is.

People ask this question EVERY time they have a news story about gas prices. It is ALWAYS higher in Jefferson City, no one knows why for sure everyone says it because of the JC big wigs here in Jeff keeping them high but if you don't like it then move to another city that has lower prices. Good grief!

$3.19 at Cuba mo yesterday. So much for that $ 4.00 gas Romney was talking about in the Debates, I guess the oil co are behind OBAMA. Vote For Obama 2012 ROB

And the problem is people won't remember how much gas was under Obama. The fact that it went up $2.00 a gallon under his term. When they are voting they will remember how much gas is now. Romney's goals for energy are still what I am all for. Vote For Romney 2012 HIM

Kind of like they forget that gas reached over $4.00 a gallon under Bush!

As of right now it is still over 4 bucks on the West coast and $3.70 or so in the Northeast. Not to mention severe shortages in the Sandy hit states as well. It ain't going down that fast. All aspects of fuel usage is down. It has been averaging an 11% decline annually for the past 4 years now. If we got back to pre-08 levels of consumption gas would be over $6.00 a gallon.

Fuel usage is down because the economy is in the toilet.

In what world is $3 gas a good thing? Obama said in the debate that the reason gas prices have increased under his administration is because he is fixing the economy. Not being able to fill your gas tank is not fixing the economy. Sky high diesel only increases costs on everything we buy. Drill at home. Drill now. Build the pipeline. Elect a new president. REMEMBER BENGHAZI

Obama's goal when he started the job was $8/gallon gas. People sure have short memories and denial issues.
newone 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Who is in denial? 7-10-2008 under good old George W. Bush gas reached an all time high at $4.12 average....how we forget!!
connor 7 months, 2 weeks ago
And then just like the national debt and government spending Obummer had to take it to new heights.
We won't forget.

That is alright, change the subject that is what you all are good at doing. You say Democrates are in denial about gas pricess yet you over look how high they were when a Republican was in office just a few years ago and then when someone calls you out on it you change the subject to something else to make the Democrates look bad but guess what, I see how things were going when a Republican was in office, I saw where this country was headed and I didn't like it which is why I voted Democrate in the last election, now I see where the Republican's want to take us again and I will vote Democrate in the next election because of it. The only ones in denial are the Republican's they refuse to see what Bush got us into and as long as they refuse to see that any new Republican that would happen to come in will only take us back tot he mess they started.

Things were going great until Pelosi and Frank took over congress the last two years of Bush. That is when the bottom began to fall out...

HEH I am not changing the subject Gas Prices broke new heights under Obama and broke Bush's record.
I am not trying to convince you anyway. After four years you still want to blame Bush in 20 you still will be.
Gas prices climbed higher under Obama and with almost 30% less demand. Obama's policies have failed.

Under Bush gas went from $1.62 when he first came into office to $4.12 that isn't breaking new heights???? Really????

They are, right her at home, why should we sell oil to china? Alaskan oil where does it go? Let the Chinese buy it from those cesspool countries like Libya? Oil co sell oil! It sure came down, so much for mitt and his $4.00 gal gas! Rob

As usual, the three family cartel in JC has a monopoly here and gougeus and stay in lock step with each or. Several AGs have had complaints filed against the oil jobbers, but they ignore it. Gas is always 15 to 25 cents higher here than in other oarts of MO. Most of the gas comes from the pipeline out on Idlewood Road, right in the southern part of the city. The state workers complain about low wages, but these families hurt them bad with the price fixing.

The cartel families must be good donors to the AG candidates too.

Not true, gas in Cape Girardeau is $3.59, Ozark $ 3.53, Branson $ 3.39, Lebanon $3.39. Jefferson City doesn't even make the top 20 highest prices in Missouri. Looks like we are pretty much in the middle.

Gas prices will shoot over $4 a gallon right after the election in preparation for the Christmas season.
Littleinvestor 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Lifer, you may be right. But I thought they would come down dramatically after the election. Looks like I was wrong. There is a huge supply of product in the market right now, though the shut down of refineries in the east because of Sandy will reduce the over supply quite a bit. One thing to consider, when banks got out of the derivative business (because their customers wised up) they turned to the futures markets and right now banks gambling on oil futures is causing some of the increase in the price of gas, diesel and propane. That's part of how they are making money because the Fed has set interest rates too low for them to make enough money on loans.

I have called MFA Oil, asked why is holt's summit breaktime station is higher. The lady told me its cause holts summit gets fuel from a different refinery. I call Bull pucky, Its all the Jefferson city Cartel. Jacking up the price.
