Your Opinion: Invitation to learn about Mormon faith

Dear Editor:

A recent "RedBlueAmerica" editorial discussed Gov. Romney's membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as an issue in the presidential campaign. As a Mormon, I think the writers may have missed the point.

More important than Broadway shows or adherence to the Nicene Creed is the character developed when practicing beliefs including faith, hard work, honesty, personal responsibility, service to others, forgiveness and kindness to all. The Mormon church has congregations throughout Mid-Missouri. I invite everyone to visit a Sunday service to see those values being taught and encouraged.

If Gov. Romney's actions are informed by those ideals, and I believe that they are, then we can move forward and make political decisions based on policy and not prejudice.
