It took 51 years for someone to break the 400-yard dash record for the Helias Crusaders. Griffin McCurren has broken it three times in the last two weeks.
The Helias junior capped his record trifecta of runs Saturday afternoon at the Class 3 Missouri State High School Activities Association Track and Field Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, finishing fourth in the event in 48.94.

Helias' Will Fife left the state championships with his second medal. After finishing second in the discus Friday, the sophomore took third in the shot put.
Helias, with Fife and McCurren scoring all its points, finished in a tie for 12th in the final team standings with 19 points.

On the girls side, Helias finished tied for 53rd with one point.
Bre Zanders scored that point Saturday for the Lady Crusaders, taking eighth in the shot put.
