Will Fife went from third to second in two weeks. That's third in his district to second in the state.

The Helias sophomore recorded a toss of 164 feet, 10 inches Friday to finish second in the boys discus in the Class 3 Missouri State High School Activities Association Track and Field Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

"I wanted to do the best that I could and finish as high as I could," Fife said.

It was a day of few surprises for the Crusaders, who are tied for seventh with eight points after five final events.

On the girls side, the Lady Crusaders failed to score in three finals Friday.
