Napheesa Collier experienced a number of memorable moments this past school year. Now she is going out with a bang.

The Jefferson City freshman took second in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump Friday at the Class 4 Missouri State High School Activities Association Track and Field Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, part of her last weekend of competition as a Lady Jay.

Collier was at her best Friday, helping the Lady Jays take a lead in the team standings after one day with 19 points. Lee's Summit West sits in second with 17 points and three teams are tied with 10.

Friday was more about qualifying in the preliminary races than it was about scoring points for the Jefferson City boys.

The Jays qualified third in the 4x100-meter relay and fifth in the 4x200-meter relay, Caleb Ruth qualified fifth in the 800-meter run and Elijah Sherwood qualified eighth in the 200-meter dash.
