Wednesday, May 23, 2012
A Jefferson City woman has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal car crash in February on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.
As of Tuesday, Kelli Smith, 22, of 7501 W. Brazito Road, was being held on a $100,000 bond in the Cole County Jail.
Reports from the Missouri Highway Patrol show Smith was intoxicated and was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-70 around 3:30 a.m. Feb. 25.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, Thomas Sullivan, 35, Parkville, moved into the passing lane of the eastbound lanes when he was struck head-on by Smith who was going westbound.
The collision caused Sullivan’s vehicle to catch fire.
Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
