One arrested after foot pursuit

At about 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, officers of the Jefferson City Police Department were on routine patrol in the 200 block of East Dunklin when they noticed a suspicious person walking in the street, eastbound.

As the suspect walked east, he kept reaching to the waistband of his pants, which caused suspicion on the part of the officers.

As officers stopped their patrol vehicle to speak to the subject, the subject abruptly ran eastbound from the officers, who called out a foot pursuit.

Officers yelled at the suspect to stop, who kept reaching at his waistband while he ran.

The foot pursuit continued southbound onto the 700 block of Monroe Street, at which time the suspect then produced a handgun from his waistband.

Officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun multiple times, and eventually the suspect did so and was taken into custody without incident.

Arrested for felony unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest was 20 year old Jefferson City resident Dylan Johnson.
