The Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department is waiting on one last piece to finish up a playground in the North Jefferson City Recreation Area.

J.J. Gates, park resources and forestry division director, said the new playground was originally hoped to be completed by June 1, but that may not be possible as staff is waiting on the safety surfacing tile to be delivered.

Gates said some of the equipment will have to be dismantled to put the safety surfacing down, but once the delivery is made, the park will begin to come together.

"We can't put all the equipment up and then the tile underneath it," Gates said. "You can't slide the tile underneath them after you put it together."
