It's often been said things are sweeter the second time around, and that was definitely the case Friday for Vienna's Corey Schoene.

Just like last year, Schoene won a state championship in the Class 1 boys pole vault. But unlike last year, he got to enjoy the experience.

Schoene cleared a personal-best and school-record 13 feet, 9 inches in the the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1-2 Track and Field Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, and he was all smiles afterward.
