Jefferson City police seek suspect in attempted robbery

At about 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, officers of the Jefferson City Police Department responded to a panic alarm at the BreakTime Convenience Store located at 1940 West Main Street.

When officers arrived, they contacted the victim, a 35 year old Jefferson City resident, who stated a suspect emerged from the woods to the east of the business and approached him while he was outside cleaning the lot. The suspect produced a handgun and threatened the victim, demanding money. The victim refused to cooperate, and the suspect left the area on foot.

The suspect is believed to be a white male, described as wearing all black clothing to include black shoes, a black zip up sweatshirt and a black t-shirt. The suspect was wearing a royal blue ski mask and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun.

No money was taken during the attempted robbery, and no one was hurt.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call police at 634-6400 or Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS.

Lucky for the employee that the robber didn't want to graduate to murder.

This is sad news. I feel for the poor employee that had a gun pointing at him in wrongful hands. Too bad someone with CCW wasn't there to put an end to a felony in progress. Could have saved tax payers some money (if the perp gets caught). Before you say I'm violent, think about the victim and the crime committed towards them. The perp is going to eventually harm someone if they are not stopped before then by law enforcement.
