JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri has joined most states and the federal government in a settlement with Skechers USA over shoes marketed as helping people lose weight and tone muscles.
Attorney General Chris Koster says the settlement involves Shape-Ups, Tone-Ups and Skechers Resistance Runner athletic shoes. Customers will be able to get a partial refund of about $20 per pair of shares. Claims can be filed on telephone hotline 866-325-4186 or online at www.ftc.gov/skechers .
Koster says Skechers made health claims that could not be proved. He says he is pleased customers will get some money back.
Skechers admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement.
