JC man injured when motorcycle hits car

A Jefferson City man was treated for injuries at St. Mary’s Health Center after being thrown from his motorcycle during a twovehicle accident at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Jefferson City police, Richard K. Beekman, 46, was making a left turn from Southwest Boulevard to travel westbound on Route C when he failed to yield to a passenger car traveling southbound on Southwest Boulevard. Beekman hit the driver’s side of the vehicle, driven by Nathan C. Suttenfield, 30, of Holts Summit, and was thrown from the motorcycle, landing on the asphalt. Suttenfield was uninjured.

Police report Beekman was wearing a novelty-type helmet, not a Department of Transportation-approved helmet.

Beekman was taken to St. Mary’s Health Center, where he was treated and released.
