COLUMBIA, Mo. - Midway through the second half Thursday night, a thought popped into Matt Stacey's head.
Jefferson City had scored two unanswered goals to tie the Class 3 District 9 Tournament title game with Rock Bridge. Just run a few more minutes off the clock and the Lady Jays coach would be happy.
"If we would have gotten it under 10 minutes, I really thought we would be going to overtime and maybe PKs," Stacey said.
But Morgan Bumby foiled that plan. The Bruins' junior scored with 11 minutes left and Rock Bridge went on to post a 4-2 soccer victory over Jefferson City at Rock Bridge Field.
