One arrested after weapons offense in JC

On Monday at about 8 p.m., Jefferson City Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of West McCarty for a disturbance call. According the caller, a family dispute occurred at that location, which escalated as a male involved in the disturbance pointed a firearm at a female with whom he was arguing. The male suspect then drove away in a vehicle, and the female victim was unharmed.

Officers were able to obtain vehicle information and found the vehicle heading north on US 63 towards Columbia. Jefferson City Police, in conjunction with Boone County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Ashland Police Department officers, conducted a felony traffic stop with the suspect vehicle on 63 north of Ashland.

The male suspect, Brandon Christopher, 18, of Fulton, was taken into custody for unlawful use of a weapon. A BB pistol was taken from the vehicle, which was the weapon used in the disturbance. In addition, a 20 year old female passenger who was present during the disturbance was arrested for hindering prosecution but later released without any charges pending
