Lady Jays unsure what to expect in district opener
Tuesday, May 15, 2012
The Jefferson City Lady Jays aren’t quite sure what they’re going to get. They can’t let that bother them.
Jefferson City takes a trip to the unknown tonight when it opens the Class 3 District 9 soccer tournament against Washington at Rock Bridge.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve played somebody or not this time of the year,” Lady Jays coach Matt Stacey said. “You go into every game thinking your opponent is dangerous and this is the most important game of the season. You can’t afford to think any other way or you’re going to be trouble.”
Third-seeded Jefferson City (9-14) faced the other three squads in the five-team district. But second-seeded Washington (12-13-1) has only met one potential district foe, blanking Hickman 2-0 in the first week of the season.
