Helias opens soccer postseason today

It was a successful regular season for the Helias Lady Crusaders. And with the postseason about to start, there's really no reason to change things now.

"We just have to continue playing like we've been playing, continue to play together as a team," Helias coach Chuck Register said as the Lady Crusaders prepare to host the four-team Class 2 District 10 Tournament starting today at the 179 Soccer Park. "You never know what could happen, we need to continue to be focused."

Helias (18-4-2, ranked No. 3 in Class 2) is the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 4 Fulton (8-12) in a game slated for a 6:30 p.m. start. The Lady Crusaders, who have won their last six games, defeated the Lady Hornets 6-0 on April 23. Helias limited Fulton to just one shot on goal in the contest.

Today's first game will pit second-seeded School of the Osage (17-6-1) and third-seeded Boonville (9-10) at 5 p.m. The two tied in the coaches seed voting, with Osage winning a coin flip to wear its home uniforms.
