Farmer shines

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Led by an Olympic-level performance by Leslie Farmer, two former Jefferson City Lady Jays had good results for Missouri at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

During Saturday's prelims, Farmer raced to a time of 57.80 in the 400-meter hurdles. That qualified her third for Sunday's finals and was one of five times in the prelims to meet the standard for the USA Olympic Trials.

The time also marked the the third time Farmer has broken the school record this season.

Farmer went on to finish seventh in the event with a finals time of 58.62.

Farmer was also part of Missouri's 4x400-meter relay team that finished ninth in 3:45.71.

Also for Missouri, Heather Green finished fifth in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 13- 3⁄4.
