“Follow your passion.”

That was one piece of advice given to graduates Sunday from Caterpillar President and Chief Financial Officer Edward J. Rapp.

Eight young women graduated from Lighthouse Preparatory Academy, which held graduation ceremonies in the Capitol Rotunda.

Rapp, the commencement speaker, told graduates to give thanks, have passion and stay strong as they forge their way in the world.

“Understand there are going to be periods where you’re absolutely overwhelmed,” Rapp said. “You will really find out who you are when you deal with the toughest of times.”
