School board to finalize surtax, discuss summer plans

Jefferson City’s Board of Education on Monday will be asked to approve the final agreement in the ongoing Cole County surtax controversy.

More than two decades ago, a calculation mistake in the formula distributing the tax to the county’s cities and school districts resulted in some getting too much money and others not getting enough.

When the schools refund the tax payers for the $7 million for the stadium, pressbox and track that was built in the last few years then I will vote for them to have more money to waste

In my opinion, if they spent $7 million to only use the facilities for 3 years and then abandon them, then yes I would say that is very wasteful.

If they continue to utilize them for the next 15-20 years then I would think that we did get a good investment out of them.

agree with you but I dont believe anyone is suggesting the stadium be ABANDONED!!!.....if the JCPS sells the stadium along with the HS would that be ok with you???? if they cant sell it they should still keep it and use it in my opinion!
