Couple modernize 1930s Main Street home

When Freida Hartwig brought back her future home design from the 1933-34 World's Fair, it was "the home of the future."

Lucia and Duncan Kincheloe have spent the past two years updating the 1936-built house at 2027 W. Main St. for the 21st century.

The block-style, art deco architecture was surprisingly modern compared with the traditional brick homes lining Jefferson City's streets 80 years ago.

The home's present-day transformation is no less eye-catching, making it the first Golden Hammer Award recipient from the Historic City of Jefferson for 2012.
