Jays take district track title; Lady jays second

Jefferson City’s portion of the Class 4 District 5 meet at Adkins Stadium went exactly according to plan.

The Lady Jays ousted Rock Bridge for the district title while the boys took second to the Bruins.

The Lady Jays finished with 190 points while Rock Bridge was second with 165.5. Washington was a distant third with 77.

The girls advanced in 16 events and the boys advanced in 15 events to Saturday’s sectional meet at West Plains. The top four at sectionals advance to the state meet May 25-26 at Reed Stadium.

Rock Bridge took the boys title with 176 points. The Jays finished second with 156.5 followed by Waynesville with 118.
