30 Linn State nuclear graduates to be honored

LINN, Mo. - For the first time, Linn State Technical College and Exelon Nuclear’s Clinton Power Station will present eligible nuclear technology graduates with the National Academy for Nuclear Training Certificate during the Advance Technology Center recognition ceremony Saturday.

Thirty Linn State graduates will be certified at the ceremony.

In March, the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program Ad Hoc committee voted to approve Linn State and Exelon’s uniform curriculum program. The program allows the college and Exelon to issue the nuclear uniform curriculum certificates to eligible graduates.

According to Bruce Meffert, nuclear technology chairman and instructor, 38 percent of the graduates will receive the certificate at the ceremony being held at the Presser Performing Arts Center at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mexico. Russell Coon, vice president of training at Exelon Nuclear, will be present to distribute certificates to the graduates.

In addition to the recognition of the nuclear graduates, Linn State alumnus Nathan Hogue will give the keynote address.

Hogue, a 2009 graduate of Linn State’s nuclear technology program, is employed at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) Center in Columbia.
