RENSSELAER, Ind. - Adriel Hawkins of Missouri S&T was named the Track Athlete of the Year after the completion of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.
Hawkins (Jefferson City High School) won a pair of events, finished third in another and was part of a second-place relay team at the Championships.
The sophomore posted wins in the triple jump (46-8 1/4) and 200-meter dash (21.93) and was third in the 100-meter dash (10.92). He also helped the Miners finish second in the 4x100-meter relay (41.78).
Also at the Championships, Missouri S&T's Christine Schmid (South Callaway High School) finished eighth in the hammer throw (43.48 meters).
