JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri lawmakers have endorsed legislation intended to make the timing of yellow traffic signals more consistent.
The bill provides for Missouri's Transportation Department to set minimum times for yellow lights based on federal guidelines.
Supporters of the bill say some communities that use red-light cameras to catch stoplight violators have shortened their yellow lights to ticket more drivers and boost revenue.
The House approved the bill Tuesday with several amendments to the version approved by the Senate. The chambers will have to negotiate a compromise unless the Senate accepts the House changes.
