Third person of interest in murder turns self in
Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Khiry Summers turned himself in to Jefferson City Police Department this morning (Wednesday).
Police last Friday named Summers, 20, as the third "person-of-interest" in the April 22 murder of Keith Mosely, 34, Columbia — saying they wanted to question him about "his involvement" in the murder.
Investigators have said they think Mosely was killed during an attempted robbery and attempted distribution of a controlled substance.
Cole County grand jurors last week indicted two men — Brandon Chase, 28, 1122 E. Elm St., and Tracy Session, 25, 623 Locust St. — for second-degree murder.
In a statement issued through his attorney, Summers said Wednesday: "I’m really sorry for Keith Mosely’s loss. No one intended for anyone to get killed. He didn’t deserve to die at all."
The attorney, Tina M. Crow Halcomb, added: "Mr. Summers recognizes the seriousness of his actions that night, despite the fact he remains adamant that he did not shoot Mr. Mosely. ...
"I am proud of Mr. Summers for voluntarily surrendering to authorities to face the fact of his involvement."
