Moreau River could hit 22 feet today after heavy rains

Heavy rain over the weekend has resulted in mostly minor flooding along some rivers and creeks in Missouri.

In Jefferson City, the Missouri River was predicted to be at around 11 feet most of the week, well below the flood stage of 23 feet.

Since Friday's storms, the Moreau River in Cole County has received nearly 4 inches of rain. The river is expected to reach 22 feet by this morning, 5 feet above the flood stage of 17 feet.

The National Weather Service reports that Petite Saline Creek near Boonville was a couple of feet above flood stage on Monday, and expected to rise another 3 feet before dropping. The Sac River near Caplinger Mills in southwest Missouri was also slightly above flood stage and projected to rise another 5 feet by Tuesday. The Little Osage River at Horton in southwest Missouri was right at flood stage.

No significant damage was expected.

Some parts of the state received several inches of rain over the weekend as strong storms rolled through portions of Missouri. Forecasters are calling for more rain this week.
