Races set for both Cole County commissioner seats

The list of candidates was finalized Tuesday for Cole County offices that will be up for election later this year.
The races for Eastern and Western District commissioners will be contested while the races for sheriff, assessor, treasurer and public administrator are uncontested.
The Eastern District candidates are:
• Jeff Hoelscher, incumbent, Republican.
• Ed Williams, Democrat.
Western District candidates are:
• Chris Wrigley, incumbent, Republican.
• Kris Scheperle, Republican.
• Kevin J. Kelly, Republican.
• Leonard Stella, Democrat.
The non-contested races have current officeholders seeking re-election. They include: County Assessor Chris Estes, Sheriff Greg White, Treasurer Eric Peters and Public Administrator Marilyn Schmutzler.
All are Republicans except Schmutzler, a Democrat.
The primary election is Aug. 7, and the general election will be Nov. 6.
