Engineer files in Cole County Western District

Kevin J. Kelly has filed to run for the Cole County Western District commissioner seat as a Republican.

"My wife, Kathy and I moved to Jefferson City in 1984 with our three children," he said. "I moved here as an employee of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). I retired in 2008 after over 30 years working as a highway engineer for the FHWA. I am a licensed professional engineer by the State of Missouri."

"Kathy and I raised three children who attended school at St. Joseph Cathedral School and Helias High School," Kelly said.

"My engineering experience would enhance the commission and benefit the citizens of Cole County," Kelly continued. "The current Cole County commissioners have legal and business backgrounds. Many projects in Cole County are small and large public works projects; for roads, bridges and buildings. I spent my career with the FHWA working on all phases of these types of projects. Projects are often developed with joint federal, state, county, and city agency sponsorship.

"Throughout my career, I have worked with all levels of government. Private development projects are also evaluated for impacts to our public infrastructure. My federal career and engineering background would give the Cole County Commission a multi-disciplinary background for evaluating projects."
