Election filing period ends today

Filing closes at 5 p.m. today for Cole County offices that will be up for election later this year.

Since Friday, three new candidates have filed, the first to do so since filing began last month.

The new candidates are:

• Kevin J. Kelly, Republican, running for Western District commissioner

• Ed Williams, Democrat, running for Eastern District commissioner

• Leonard Stella, Democrat, running for Western District commissioner
