Lincoln University’s Michael Ashley was honored by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association as the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for his performances last weekend at the Missouri Relays.
Ashley met NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in two events at the Relays. The first came in the 400-meter dash, where Ashley finished second in 47.34. Ashley was the top finisher from any of the competition’s participating teams, as the winner of the race was competing unattached.
Ashley also teamed up with Romel Lewis, Rashawn Hugg and Terrel Cotton to win the 4x400-meter relay, beating out six other teams to take the crown in 3:12.94.
In addition to being provisional qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, both of Ashley’s marks lead the MIAA this season.
