3 injured in Jefferson City crash

Three people were hurt in a traffic accident at the intersection of East Ashley and Monroe streets at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday.

Jefferson City police report a Ford minivan traveling southbound on Monroe had the right of way at the intersection when a westbound Chevrolet Monte Carlo ignored a stop sign and collided with the van. The vehicle then continued westbound and struck the side of an unoccupied pickup truck parked in front of 218 East Ashley St.

The driver of the minivan, Loria Sands-Horne, 49, Jefferson City, received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The driver and a passenger in the Monte Carlo left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Police later identified the driver as a 15-year-old male, whose name was not released. He and his passenger, Quentin Chandler, 17, Jefferson City, received minor injuries.
