2 men dismissed from "payday loans' cases

When Cole County Circuit Judge Dan Green calls four cases for a hearing this morning, two men who wanted to intervene in the cases won't be official parties.

The Missouri Court of Appeals in Kansas City ruled George Dennis Shull and Jerry Stockman "failed to establish that they have anything more than a consequential, remote or conjectural interest in the underlying litigation."

Both men had argued they had a legal right to intervene - or, at least, should be permitted to intervene - in the four lawsuits challenging an initiative petition that seeks voters' approval of a law capping the interest rates charged by payday, title, installment and other consumer credit lenders at 36 percent.
