Blair Oaks Elementary Principal Lorie Winslow has requested an open hearing on the school board’s February decision not to renew her contract.
In order to comply with state law requirements to hold a hearing within 10 days of her request, the proceeding will be at 9 a.m. March 31 in the Blair Oaks Middle School gymnasium.
On Feb. 15, the Blair Oaks school board voted 6-1 to not renew the contract of its elementary school principal after an eight-hour meeting that began the night before and that attracted a crowd of more than 150 people who turned out to speak in her support.

If she's doing a good job, maybe they need a new school board....

She apparently wasn't doing her job. Her students were not learning even to the basic state standards for years and that is why they had to let her go.

JCLifer there was not one thing in the article about the principal not getting rehired because the students weren't learning. The dictator of Blair Oaks, superintendant Dr. Jim Jones, is a bully. His actions will have a direct negative impact on the Blair Oaks children and community for years to come. His main concern is not that of the students of Blair Oaks, only his ego. He had to do something to take the focus off of his incompetence handling the surtax issue. He over looked a few (thousand) extra dollars coming into the district, which I am sure, padded his already excessive salary. How do you overlook that much extra income? Oh, give yourself a raise. I am sick and tired of hearing Jim Jones say his number one concern is that of the students of Blair Oaks, when his actions show the opposite. He would not get rid of the “foundation” that establishes a positive learning environment for the children, which will impact their entire educational life.

Look up the stats on the state's website. Student perbut stagnant for several years. Blair Oaks students deserve a better education.

did the website show the elementary was just recognized for distinction in performance? I guess not. Blair Oaks students deserve a better leader.

Has anyone asked the overpaid unqualified glorified secretary where she filed the evaulations....beings she is the person the evaluations would have gone to next ??? Did they not teach filing in the college attended ??? Or was there no college education...just a title that would reflect. I think that is where the trouble lies.... not Mrs. Winslow. I think clearing out the Superintendents office for people who are qualified would alleviate these problems. It astonishes me that Dr. Jones cannot come up with something better than misplaced evaulations as a reason for his bullying. I hope this backfires on him and he is the one to exit Blair Oaks....

If Saturday's hearing/meeting is 'suppose' to be open....why can't it stay that way? Why can't the school board members vote in front of the people who elected them? The only thing a closed session for voting is going to accomplish is the opportunity for the board members to hear more lies from 'The Dictator' (who most know as Dr Jones the Superintendent) We really need to ask ourselves "what is this vendetta all about'?... maybe 'the secretary' has that answer filed away somewhere.....
