Osage County board puts levy hike on ballot

The Osage County Library Board on Friday unanimously placed a 10-cent levy increase on the August ballot in Osage County to make repairs to aging library buildings and to meet rising day-to-day operating expenses.

The action was taken after the Missouri River Regional Library Board of Trustees recommended that its two taxing entities - the Osage County Library Board and the Jefferson City/Cole County Board - ask voters in the two counties to approve the 10-cent levy increase.

The Jefferson City/Cole County Board will meet Tuesday to discuss the proposed levy increase. The meeting is scheduled 6 p.m. in the MRRL annex board room.
