Two in custody for numerous business thefts in JC

Two people were taken into custody early Tuesday morning in Cole County in connection with the theft of numerous items from businesses in Jefferson City.

According to information from the sheriff's department, deputies were called to a report of suspicious activity in the 3100 block of Bald Hill Road around 1:25 a.m.

During the investigation, deputies found multiple stolen items including car wheels, tires and car stereo equipment.

All of the items were found in a shed of an elderly disabled man who was unaware of the items being in the shed.

There were also three vehicles towed from the scene that are believed to have been used to transport the stolen items.

Deputies took a 31-year-old female and an 18-year-old male into custody and they were later turned over to Jefferson City police.

Two other subjects believed to be involved in these thefts have been identified, but were still being sough as of Tuesday morning.

All the property is believed to have been stolen from stereo shops inside the Jefferson City limits.

After the items were recovered, a burglary was discovered at Car Phonics on Jefferson Street and several items are believed to have been taken from that business.
