For many veterans, service in the armed forces instills the ability to confront complicated problems by identifying rational and focused solutions.

Such experience can be a benefit when addressing many of the issues faced by members of the state’s legislative assembly.

State Rep. Stephen Webber, D-Columbia, notes that his own military experience, including two tours of duty in Iraq, provided him with such a background.
