TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Steven Stamkos scored twice to reach 50 goals in a season for the second time, and the Tampa Bay Lightning jumped out to a big early lead and beat the Boston Bruins 6-1 on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay, which had only 17 shots, scored three times in the first five minutes and coasted from there to help rookie goalie Dustin Tokarski earn his first NHL victory.
Tom Pyatt, Nate Thompson and Ryan Shannon scored quickly to ruin Marty Turco's first start as Boston's backup goalie. The Stanley Cup champions have lost three straight for the first time since late October and were limited to two shots in the opening period, 34 overall.
Stamkos scored his 49th goal in the second period and added his NHL-best 50th at 11:43 of the third to move into a tie for the league scoring lead with Evgeni Malkin with 84 points.
The Bruins signed Turco on March 5 as a backup for No. 1 goalie Tim Thomas after Tuukka Rask sustained a lower abdomen/groin strain that could sideline him four to six weeks.
Thomas replaced Turco after Shannon's goal made it 3-0 just 4:31 in, but he didn't fare much better. Turco came back in during the second period after Thomas stopped three of five shots.
FLYERS 3, DEVILS 0
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 17 shots for this third straight shutout and fourth in five games to lead Philadelphia over New Jersey.
Sean Couturier, Jakub Voracek and Danny Briere scored to provide the offense.
After an underwhelming start to the season, Bryzgalov has dominated of late. He stretched his shutout streak to more than 196 minutes and has stopped 152 of 154 shots. The Devils didn't test him much, but it might not have mattered. He went 3-0 last week with a 0.65 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage in three starts.
The Flyers took a two-point lead over the Devils and moved into fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
CAPITALS 5, ISLANDERS 4, SO
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Matt Hendricks scored in the fourth round of a shootout, and Washington completed a dramatic three-goal comeback in a victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.
Washington trailed 4-1 late in the second before Alex Ovechkin scored in the final minute of the period. Dmitry Orlov scored 1:51 into the third to make it 4-3, and Ovechkin tied it at 10:15 with his 29th goal.
Mike Knuble scored his fourth goal of the season to bring the Capitals within 3-1.
John Tavares scored twice, including his career-best 31st goal, and added an assist, Matt Moulson netted his 30th of the season, and defenseman Travis Hamonic also scored for the Islanders (28-31-11), who lost their third straight game in heartbreaking fashion.
The Capitals (36-28-6) have won four in a row and lead ninth-place Buffalo by four points in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
RANGERS 4, HURRICANES 2
NEW YORK (AP) - Brad Richards scored twice and Martin Biron, a last-minute replacement for the ill Henrik Lundqvist, made 27 saves in the New York Rangers' win over Carolina.
New York's top line had a stellar night. Marian Gaborik also scored and Carl Hagelin had a goal and assists on both of Richards' goals as the trio combined for four goals and nine points.
The Rangers took advantage of a soft part in the schedule to extend their winning streak to two after having dropped three in a row. The wins over the New York Islanders and the Hurricanes, two teams unlikely to make the playoffs, followed a three-game losing streak.
The Rangers extended their lead in the Atlantic Division to six points over the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have won nine straight and are expected to have Sidney Crosby in the lineup when they face the Rangers in New York on Thursday.
Tim Brent and Drayson Bowman scored for the Hurricanes, 3-13-3 against the Atlantic Division.
STARS 1, WILD 0
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Jamie Benn's goal early in the third period and Kari Lehtonen's second consecutive shutout gave Dallas a win over Minnesota - the Stars' sixth straight victory.
Benn scored for the third time in four games to give him 21 this season. He snagged a rink-wide pass from Brendan Morrow that glanced off Wild left wing Stephane Veilleux's stick and straight to Benn for the tip-in with 16:14 remaining.
The Western Conference's hottest team is 10-0-1 in its last 11 games, with seven victories in regulation. The Stars have taken over the Pacific Division race, and have a four-point lead with 12 games to play.
Lehtonen made 25 saves. He hasn't lost a road start in regulation since Feb. 14 at Detroit.
PANTHERS 5, MAPLE LEAFS 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Sean Bergenheim scored two goals in Florida's win over Toronto.
Marcel Goc and Tomas Kopecky had power-play goals in the third period, Jason Garrison also scored, and Jose Theodore stopped 26 shots for the Panthers. Wojtek Wolski had two assists.
Bergenheim has a career-high 16 goals this season.
Mikhail Grabovski and Tyler Bozak scored for the Maple Leafs, who got 22 saves from James Reimer.
The Panthers remained atop the Southeast Division, one point ahead of Washington.
BLACKHAWKS 4, BLUES 3, SO
CHICAGO (AP) - Patrick Kane had the only goal in a shootout, and Chicago beat NHL-leading St. Louis and snapped the Blues' five-game winning streak.
Kane was the first skater and made a nice fake before beating Jaroslav Halak. Chicago goalie Corey Crawford, who entered the game in the second period after starter Ray Emery was pulled, stopped T.J. Oshie, Andy McDonald and then David Perron in the shootout.
Brent Seabrook's long slap shot from the blue line on a power play sailed past a screened Halak and tied the game at 7:41 of the third. The score came on Chicago's fifth power play and ended the Blues' streak of consecutive penalty kills at 51.
Jamie Langenbrunner, McDonald and Patrik Berglund had goals in the first period for St. Louis when the Blues built a 3-1 lead.
Chicago's Andrew Brunette opened the scoring and Viktor Stalberg added a goal in the second period.
FLAMES 3, SHARKS 2, OT
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Matt Stajan scored 4:20 into overtime, and Jarome Iginla reached 30 goals as Calgary beat San Jose in a pivotal Western Conference matchup.
In the final minute of overtime, the Flames came in on a 2-on-1 break and executed it perfectly. Blake Comeau sent a pass across to Stajan, who scored his fifth of the season into an open side.
Sven Baertschi also scored for the Flames (33-25-12), who have won four straight.
Logan Couture scored his 29th and 30th goals for San Jose (34-25-10). Despite having just one win in seven games (1-3-3), the Sharks have moved into eighth place in the Western Conference.
Calgary and Colorado are even with the Sharks at 78 points, but San Jose has one game in hand on Calgary and two on the Avalanche.
Iginla reached 30 goals for the 11th straight season, a feat accomplished by only six others in NHL history: Wayne Gretzky, Phil Esposito, Bobby Hull, Marcel Dionne, Jaromir Jagr and Mike Gartner.
Iginla has scored goals in five straight games, and has at least one point (seven goals, five assists) in seven consecutive.
KINGS 5, RED WINGS 2
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Drew Doughty had a goal and his first assist in 19 games, Anze Kopitar had a short-handed goal and an assist, and Los Angeles beat injury-depleted Detroit.
Jeff Carter and Justin Williams also had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in the Kings' fifth victory in seven games. Los Angeles avenged a loss in Detroit four days earlier and emphatically avoided a season sweep by the Red Wings, pulling the Kings into a four-way tie for eighth place in the Western Conference.
Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen scored and Jimmy Howard stopped 22 shots in his return from a three-game absence with a groin injury for the fourth-place Red Wings, who played without injured stars Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk.
Detroit has lost four of five midway.
Slava Voynov scored a power-play goal in the third period for the Kings, and Carter added an empty-net goal.
