Book sale culmination of year of preparation

For years, Roberta and Bob Gumm would go to the annual Missouri River Regional/ABLE book Sale at the Capital Mall, browsing and buying the books. They would look for mysteries and novels; he looked for technical manuals.

After attending the sale for several years, the couple, both retired, decided to volunteer.

Days after the big sale, about five years ago, they asked how to help, and soon found themselves in the library's basement sorting books. In the years since they started helping, the library's sorting area has been moved to the annex, located just across the street. While the room is much larger, it too gets filled with books.
