McCluer North claims Class 5 boys title over Nixa

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Jordon Granger scored 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds Saturday as McCluer North beat Nixa 69-60 for the Missouri Class 5 boys state title.

Nixa's Austin Ruder converted consecutive 3-pointers to tie the game at 54 with 2:45 remaining, but the North Stars (28-1) answered with eight unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles entered the fourth quarter trailing 48-37 after McCluer North used an 11-0 run to end the third quarter following a back-and-forth game featuring 11 lead changes.

Galen Brown scored 18 points and Dorian Holland added 15 for the North Stars, which won their second straight championship and the school's third overall.

Austin Ruder scored 12 points for Nixa (30-2), which had won 30 consecutive games and tied a school record in wins.
