SEMA releases videos on tornado safety

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri's State Emergency Management Agency is releasing videos showing people how to take cover in tornadoes and other types of severe weather.

The release of the videos comes in advance of next week's Statewide Tornado Drill. Barring severe weather, people are urged to practice taking cover March 13.

Officials say the safest location to take shelter is an interior room without windows in the lowest level of a building. Other safe locations for businesses and schools include hallways, underneath staircases and designated tornado safe rooms.

Paul Parmenter is the director of the State Emergency Management Agency. He says because severe weather can strike any time, it's crucial for people to know how to seek shelter in different types of locations.
