Nixon raises concerns about Limbaugh recognition
Wednesday, March 7, 2012
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Gov. Jay Nixon says he is concerned about the process by which Missouri House speakers select people for induction into the Hall of Famous Missourians.
Nixon’s concerns come after House Speaker Steven Tilley commissioned a bust of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh to be placed among other honorees in the Missouri Capitol. Limbaugh is from Cape Girardeau.
Democrats have been complaining about Tilley’s decision. They contend Limbaugh is so controversial that he is not worthy of the honor. On Wednesday, House Democrats asked Nixon’s administration to block Limbaugh’s bust from appearing in the Capitol.
Nixon spokesman Scott Holste said the governor has asked his administration commissioner to review the selection process.
The inductees are chosen by House speakers, and the busts are financed with private contributions.

The Dem's can say what they want. Its all gonna be taken as political banter and not much more. But if the Republicans in Missouri who are sitting quiet on this because they know it's a powder keg waitng to blow, were to say something anti Rush...well KAAAAA-BOOOOOM Truth is it's feast or famine. If they speak against Rush Appreciation Day, then it amakes it appear as if they are spiltting party lines...which in my view wouldn't be so bad as long as something positive got done. Still if they sit idle and act as if nothing is going on then they could be safe. Now if they speak out and say leave Rush alone, well that could political suicide especially since elections are looming ever so near. Point to be made...how do these Republicans want to be remembered? Do they wanna be remembered as the ones who did the right thing, or as the ones who sat idle and did nothing. Thing is most people like those in politics that do the right thing....and detest a coward spouting a bunch of "I fight for this and that" mess.
I don't think Rush deserves to be appreciated for JACK-BONE!!!! BUT I also thought that long before he made this latest misuse of the 1st Amendment. Mr. Tilley...this is gonna come back and getcha and you will have deserved everything.......so ya better hope Rush is gonna put you on his pay roll. But judging by the way his sponsors are dropping him, his money may be long now...however who know's how long it will last....and it's his money...not your's.

He proved his overall character today: "that's like losing a couple french fries in a container. You won't even notice it". Speaking about the advertisers that he has lost. How pompos can one be? I hope all women democratic or republican continue to express their disgust at a man who calls a young woman simply trying to voice her views horrible names and then wants to see a sex tape! He is a hate monger not FAMOUS!

Missouri has always had its share of weirdos. Adding one more to the lineup won't hurt anything. On the other hand, placing Rush Limbaugh alongside Harry Truman does cheapen the Hall of Famous Missourians.

Just for the record Bill Mahers was wrong for calling Ms. Palin a female gentle as are the other people who have done the same thing. Even though a lot of commedians male and female poke fun at topics as sensititve as gender, race, age, nationality and such....that seems to be a bit more acceptable. Just why that's so I don't have an answer.
We'v beat this Rush issue a long time, but honestly the issue isn't just Rush. Here in Mo there are people for and against Rush...but this is America. The thing that has me guessing...is why some Young Thunder Cat Politician would think enshrining Rush Limbaugh into the Hall of Famous Missouirians is a good idea.....especially after Rush's recent radio rant. Mr. Tilley this not only shows you are very immature, it shows you are also failing to undertstand the basic rule of life. In short DUDE YOUR TIMING STINKS! It would be hard to get Rush an Ice Cream Cone at DQ right now.....the Pharmacist doesn't even wan't to fill his Prescriptions and the Dope Dealer has really cut him off. So why would you think it's a good time to go pushing to have Rush enshrined into the Hall of Famous Missourians? Youngin, you got a lot to learn.

"Young Thunder Cat Politician would think enshrining Rush Limbaugh into the Hall of Famous Missouirians [sic] is a good idea.....especially after Rush's recent radio rant." You sure about that? I believe this selection was made 3 months before this manufactured anger came to be.

Keep emailing and calling your senators they are responding by saying it is ALL on Tilley! Even they do not want to back this horrible choice as a famous Missourian. Not only did he call this young woman disgusting names he asked for a sex tape!! All women should be offended!! Who cares if this decision was made three months ago it was wrong then and should absolutely be pulled now! I believe everyone else in the Hall is deceased - maybe this is why???

"All women should be offended!!" -- respect, how ironic respect, as your comment advocates telling women what to think and do. Contrary to your belief, women are very capable of making their own decisions. Not very respect - ful.

Do you have a wife? A sister? A daughter? Would you like such language to have been directed to them on a nationally broadcasted show? You really don't think those words were offensive?
Because really, if you don't think women should be offended by that language, there's just nothing left to say.

I hate women because I lean right, that's a given. Family is no exception. They know their place at all times and I pipe Rush Limbaugh through speakers in every room in my house for a mandatory 3 hours a day (or else). I digress, let's get back to reality..............If a family member of mine decided to be used by a party for their cause on national TV, I would give them fair warning to the consequences of their actions and make sure how thick their skin needs to be in the arena of politics. Ms. Fluke is a lawyer in training and decided to mess with some big dogs and she got bit. Brush it off, move on.....you saw it coming.

And at this point you've gone from disagreeable, but interesting debate, into trolldom.

Sir, you don't know me from Adam. Your bold "religious" one-size-fits-all description of the right assumes that a bold "godless" should describe all on the left. Also, before you say my "quotes don't seeem [sic] very Godly" you may want to add my quotes and prove that I am indeed "Godly".

Respect- I agree with your point but there are several in the Hall that are still alive: John Ashcroft, Stan Musial, Bob Barker, maybe more. But we don't really need that as a criteria if we can just stick to honoring those that deserve it...

The Hall of Famous Missourians, located in the Rotunda on the third floor of the State Capitol, honors individuals who have been recognized for their outstanding achievement or contribution to the "Show-Me State."
The hall contains a collection of bronze busts that depict these famous Missourians. Every bust holds a plaque describing each of these notable citizen's accomplishments throughout our state's history.
Honorees are selected only by the current Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives. This ever-growing collection is open to the public during visiting hours at the Capitol.

Rush is having his bust placed in the capital because he is a successful business man both in politics and on the radio. If he wasn't then why does so many people know what he talks about on a regular bases. As for something for society that is good- what did Walt Disney do other than bring you a character that mad him billions of dollars? Seems strange that a business man that leans to the republican side gets hammered for what he says and business men leaning to the left get a pass. What he said is that if Fluke wants us to pay for her birth control so she can have sex whenever she wants she is a prostitute. by definition a prostitute is somebody who receives something to have sex. so If We as tax payers and employers are paying her premiums so she can have birth control so she can truely have sex whenever she wants then by definition she is a prostitute. Where she went wrong is deciding to go in front of congress and saying it, If you walk on the biggest stage in the world and give a show you better be ready to have people critique it.

No wonder the poiticians think we're all a bunch of small children. No wonder they feel like they have to protect us from ourselves. The state of Missouri is not your own private fraternity Mr. Tilly. How dare you nominate the "Andrew Dice Clay" of our state. I do not find a man who lives his life disregarding rules of law (how many docs does he have?) rules of debate and rules of common descensy. He does not bill his "show" as entertainment but he finds no problem in lowering it into the the toilet with his outlandish comments touted as "debate". I wouldn't talk to my dog the way he talks about and to people. You may think it's all great fun Mr. Speaker, but I for one am not amused. The day may come when the common mans' words and ideas will not be heard because of people like him. The citizens of this country should never be treated as if they're not smart enough or savy enough to be involved in their own destiny. So, keep debating the silly, sad little man who can only feel good about himself and the views he supports by humiliating and degrading the people not only of this state, but the entire country.
