Despite foul trouble, Deeken leads California past Hermann

ROLLA, Mo. — Talk about weathering the storm.

California’s Sydney Deeken missed the majority of the first half against No. 3 Hermann due to foul trouble. The Lady Pintos managed to get by with defense and even took a one-point lead into halftime with minimal contributions from the standout sophomore forward.

When Deeken returned for the second half, she dominated every facet of the game. Need proof? Here’s her final stat line: 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks. Deeken’s triple-double propelled California to a 41-36 victory over Hermann in a Class 3 sectional game Wednesday night at Missouri S&T.
